Suncoast Basset Rescue (SBR) is a Florida-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming basset hounds in need — strays, shelter dogs, and owner surrenders alike. We work every day to give these wonderful hounds a second chance at the life they deserve: as someone’s best friend.
Adopt a Basset Hound
When you adopt, you save a life. SBR invests significant time and care into every hound we rescue, because our goal is simple: find each dog their final, forever home. Whether you’re a single, a couple, or a family, there’s a perfect basset match for you — and we’ve been making those matches all across Florida for over 25 years.
Become a Foster Home
We need foster homes — right now. Fostering a basset hound is one of the most rewarding things you can do. When you foster, you take in a stray, neglected, or surrendered Basset and give them a safe, loving environment while they prepare for adoption. Our fosters make our entire rescue possible.

Forever Foster Guardian Program
Some bassets need more than a temporary home — they need a lifelong commitment. SBR’s Forever Foster Guardian program supports hounds with serious illness or severe behavioral challenges, allowing them to live out their days surrounded by love, comfort, and proper medical care.
By becoming a monthly donor as a Forever Foster Guardian, you can virtually adopt one of these special hounds and directly fund their ongoing care.
